BETWEEN FALL AND SPRING CONFERENCES
Sunday, Oct 28, 2018 – Sunday, Feb 10, 2019
12:00am – 12:00am
Our Fall Conference has successfully concluded. We had the highest overall attendance in quite some time. This included 17 STUDENT POSTER PRESENTATIONS! There were many positive comments about these posters and our poster coordinator, Aris Rodriguez, is thanked for a tremendous job.
We have received many positive verbal comments and want to congratulate Program Chair, Marc Kinon for his organization. He, in turn, has thanked his panel moderators: Mikaela Rabinowitz, Mia Bird, Cory Woods, Elizabeth Siggins, and Erinn Herberman for gathering such a great group of presenters. Thursday’s Keynote Speaker, Deshonna Collier-Goubil, got the conference off to an energized start and Friday Keynoter, Sandra Morgan, kept up the interest for Friday’s panels. Results of the Conference Survey will be published on the website in a couple of weeks.
Be sure to note the SAVE-THE-DATE INFORMATION below, but first…
If you attended the conference, the Board wants to know your thoughts on this venue.
There are questions about moving to another hotel with a likely increase in registration fees required. We need to hear your thoughts. If you did not fill out a Conference Survey form, here is a link to it:
If you were unable to attend the conference, Notes and presentations will be posted on the website in the next few weeks. If you subscribe to our MailChimp notification option, you will receive an email when they are posted (scroll down the Home page to find the signup form).
Also, WE NEED YOUR HELP WITH AN IMPORTANT INFORMATION SHARING PROJECT. Access our Peer Network Survey spreadsheet at Google.docs :
Access our Peer Network Survey spreadsheet at Google Docs
This is a collaborative document, so you may find the first few columns filled in for your organization. Check the information and add to it if you can. Add your organization if it is not already entered. Also enter the name of a peer organization and any additional information you might have (particularly a contact person and email address), and we will contact them for further information. If you have any questions about using google.docs or about the spreadsheet, please contact Jim Hess at firstname.lastname@example.org.
You also can help by sending publication links, notices, and information on other events to email@example.com. Information for students (programs, internships, etc.) and student research papers is especially welcomed. When a fair amount of new information is posted, MailChimp subscribers will receive an email to check the Latest News post for more information.
SAVE-THE-DATE FOR THE SPRING CONFERENCE: MARCH 21-22, 2019.
NOTE: dates within the first two weeks of April are being determined. WE will again be at our new location: THE CALIFORNIA ENDOWMENT CONFERENCE CENTER IN OAKLAND. Our conference hotel is again the Z Hotel in Jack London Square.
There is a free shuttle that runs up and down Broadway every 10-15 minutes, from our conference site to Jack London Square, where our hotel is and where we’ll have the cocktail event and Board dinner. Here is a link:
We will have more parking information posted as part of the program and registration information in late January/early February.
The Program Chair for the Fall Conference is Cory Woods. Cory has several ideas for panels, but needs more ideas and volunteers to be panel moderators. If you have some research you think would be of interest to our eclectic audience, ideas for panelists or keynote speakers, or issues you would like to hear discussed, contact Cory at Cory.Woods@co.nevada.ca.us.
